Bottle Gourd Bhaji

Healthy curry recipe made with bottle gourd and bengal gram.

Ingredients

  • Bottle gourd: 500 gms Green chillies: 4 Ginger: a small piece Milk: 150 ml
  • Peanut oil: 2 tbsps Mustard seed: 1 level tsp Sugar: ½ tsp Salt: to taste

Method

Step 1

Peel the tender gourd. Wash and drain. With a sharp knife julienne the gourd. Wash the green chillies and slit two chillies. Peel the ginger, wash and grate. Put a heavy karai upon medium heat.

Step 2

Heat the oil and temper with mustard leaves. Add the bottlegourd and salt to taste. Add the slit green chillies. Stir for about ½ minutes.

Step 3

Cover and cook for about a minute. Add the milk and cook till done. Add the grated ginger, remaining whole chillies and sugar. Stir for awhile and serve with paratha.
