Ingredients
- Local Chicken: 1 kg Garlic paste: 1 tbsp Ginger paste: 1 tsp Finely chopped onion: 4-5 medium Slit green chillies: 3-4 Cherry tomatoes: 20-25 Potatoes: 3 medium (quartered and fried till golden brown)
- Dal kasu (Colacasia stem): 4-5 cleaned and cut into 5 cm pieces Bay leaves: 2 Dry red chillies: 2 Cumin powder, coriander powder, turmeric powder: 1 tsp each
- Salt: to taste Garam masala powder:1/2 tsp Mustard oil: 60-75 ml (4-5 tbsps)
Method
Step 1
Clean, wash and drain the chicken. Make desired size pieces. Take the chicken pieces in a large bowl. Add garlic and ginger paste,turmeric powder and salt. Also add 1/3 tsp of cumin and coriander powder each. Mix well with hands and cover. Marianate for 1 and 1/2 hour.
Step 2
Heat oil in a heavy wok. Temper with dry chillies and bay leaves. Add the finely chopped onion and fry. When done add the marianate chicken with its juice. Stir for awhile and add the fried potatoes. Also add the colacasia stems and stir.
Step 3
Cooked covered till almost done. Add the cherry tomatoes and slit green chillies. Taste for salt. Mash the cherry tomatoes when soft. Sprinkle the garam masala powder. Stir cook for another 2 minutes. Garnish according to taste and serve hot with boiled rice.
